Varied hearty meals and healthy activities

Inspiring activities to keep minds active

Ensuring the well-being of all residents is catered for every day of the year.

Healthy meals help to maintain a level of normality for residents, whilst various activities are organised for stimulation and well-being.

Fresh wholesome food

Our catering team offers quality, nutritious home cooked food using fresh, seasonal and local produce.

Residents can choose from a varied menu for example, roast dinners, lamb pie, quiche, chicken curry, fish and chips, soup, and sandwiches. All dietary requirements are catered for, including soft diets, and residents can have a say in new dishes being added to the menu.

Meals are served either in the communal dining area or in the comfort of the resident’s room, if that is their preference. Hot and cold beverages are available throughout the day upon request, as well as from the self-service kitchenette.

Elmhurst welcomes friends and family members who wish to join their loved ones for a meal, though we require 24 hours notice in order to allow for necessary catering arrangements and special dietary requirements.

Encouraging residents to engage and to live a fulfilled life

Frequent residents’ meetings are held to share ideas and to enable everyone to support each other.

The activities timetable includes quizzes, movie showings, ball sports, singalongs, flower arranging, baking, and a variety of crafts. We do our best to cater for different interests. The activities coordinator arranges singers to come in on a monthly basis. We have visits from local school children who join in the activities and who also visit at Christmas to sing carols. We also have lots of animals who visit. Meals are frequently themed around national days and events such as St. George’s Day and St. David’s Day. Residents are more than welcome to do some pruning or digging in the garden.

A Resident’s Comfort Fund is supported by donations from families and friends and is used for activities and events to enrich our residents’ lives.
